Over time creating lunchboxes I have decided that pretty is nice but practical is better. So, admittedly I follow the path of least resistance and send my boys to school with a thermos stuffed full of left-overs. Not the most visually appealing but so quick, easy and versatile. They end up with anything from jacket potatoes to curry to a roast. One of my moments of glory was managing to get a fried egg into each thermos and have them survive intact until lunchtime - YES!!
For those who prefer a cold packed lunch do not limit yourself. Think outside the sandwich/apple box. Most kids are delighted by a chicken drumstick or some baked potato wedges ... even if they are cold.
