I wanted to reflect on our experiences over the last two weeks.
I am such an advocate of kids cooking:
- It gives them confidence
- They gain a new appreciation of food
- It's empowering and rewarding
- It's fun (mostly)
And of course they get to understand first hand how much time and energy it requires to put a meal for 4 on the table every night.
They have cooked every single weekday meal for 2 weeks and it's been great for all of us. They've made me so proud as they've even coordinated their social life around their responsibility. "Sorry, I'm going to have to be home at 3.30 today as I need to finish cooking ..."
We've all learned a lot of lessons and I think have more respect for each other's skills. It's also been a great "team" effort (that nearly polished me off a few times but we'll gloss over those bits ... ).
