Do your kids do lunches and dinners in the holidays?

So today my beautiful boys go back to school and I will miss them (not the fighting or the mess though) not only for their company but for their cooking. It took me years to come to the realisation that actually it wasn't just my "job" to get food on the table. They were old enough and capable enough to help and why shouldn't they. We always did "cooking" together but this new thing wasn't the special, let's whip something up but the boring, everyday grind stuff. Once I changed that mindset it made holidays so much more relaxed for me and of course as it became a habit they stopped moaning and just accepted it as a part of what needed to be done. Together we can put a healthy lunch on the table in under 10 minutes. For me to do it on my own would take more than double the time. These holidays I had a lot to do to make up for the glorious 6 days in Perth so I had them doing dinners too. Again, splitting the chores between them made for light work (and many congratulations!). Have fun at school boys, I will miss you and your labours .... But wait, should I be getting them to do evening meals as well? In fairness they often help but I'm thinking a whole meal solely in their hands would give them an enormous sense of achievement ... Do your kids do lunches and dinners in the holidays?
